Bush Increases Taxes! Lies again!

Breaking his promise...lying again..

In June of 1999, when George W. Bush wrote, "If elected president, I will oppose and veto any increase in individual or corporate marginal income tax rates or individual or corporate income tax hikes," he meant, as most of us already knew, on his 18 multi-billionaire friends. He has no problem tripling the taxes of our young people. Where is the Con outrage!

Under the new law, teenagers age 14 to 17 with investment income will now be taxed at the same rate as their parents, not at their own rates. Long-term capital gains and dividends that had been taxed at 5 percent will now be taxed at 15 percent. Interest that had been taxed at 10 percent will now be taxed at as much as 35 percent.

The increases, which are retroactive to the first day of the year, are expected to generate nearly $2.2 billion over 10 years, according to the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation, which issues the official estimates.

Republican Obfuscation

American issues of the day:

The War in Iraq
Record Deficits
Renewable Energy
Executive Branch Power Grab
Wiretapping Americans
Terrorism
Poverty
Homelessness
Education
Crime

.... just to name a few.

However, with these and many other pressing issues on the American plate, what does the Majority Leader of the Senate decide is of the utmost importance requiring the attention of the Senate? Flag Burning!

It is possible that Senator Frist reviewed the Terri Schiavo video and discerned from her that this was a high priority for America, but we think he's just trying to get red-state voters back in the fold.

Better to keep them duped with emotional non-issues rather than have them examine the facts and realize the Republicans have sold them a bill-of-goods.

"You're doing a heck of a job, Porty!"

George W. Bush's CIA Chief resigned Friday. The resignation was unexpected. Speculation abounds regarding the former head of the Senate Intelligence Committee potential involvement with Duke Cunningham's Watergate Prostitutes.

Randi Rhodes, AirAmerica's Radio Goddess, commented, "This gives a whole new meaning to the term "laid off", doesn't it?"

McClellan Going Before Rove - The Prophesy Fulfilled

Press Secretary Scott McClellan is giving way to The SnowJob. Karl (Turd Blossom) Rove is still on the White House payroll after leaking the name of a CIA Operative undercover operative. The Whirlpool predicted this back in July: Remember?

George W. Bush: Hypocrite-in-Chief

Candidate Bush Would ‘Sing The Star-Spangled Banner in Spanish’ At Hispanic Festivals

President Bush, 4/28/06:

I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English, and I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English.

But in his book American Dynasty, Kevin Phillips notes that during Bush’s first presidential campaign, he would often sing the national anthem in Spanish. From pg. 142:

When visiting cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, or Philadelphia, in pivotal states, he would drop in at Hispanic festivals and parties, sometimes joining in singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” in Spanish, sometimes partying with a “Viva Bush” mariachi band flown in from Texas.
